Separation Anxiety Training

Helping clients anywhere in the U.S.

With our science-based training method, we can help your dog feel better when left home alone so you can get your life back!

Our hearts break when we hear people talk about the struggles their dog faces with separation anxiety. If you have a dog who struggles with being left alone, it is a feeling that is probably all too familiar.  Panting, pacing, barking, escape attempts.  Thoughts may run through your head about whether you should leave your dog alone to run a quick errand or ask a friend to come over to keep them company because you cannot bear to watch them suffer. If your dog panics when left alone, we are here to help.

Understanding Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is panic disorder in which the dog has a phobia of being left alone. Dogs with separation anxiety are not being stubborn or willful.  They are not bad dogs.  They are scared dogs.

Typical symptoms of separation anxiety include:

  • Excessive barking, whining, crying, or howling

  • Escape attempts – sometimes to the point of self-harm

  • Destructiveness – usually aimed at exit/entry points like doors and windows

  • House soiling in an otherwise housetrained dog

  • Fearful or upset body language such as: panting, trembling, tucked tail, pacing, cowering

What We'll Cover:

We utilize the science behind desensitization training - the same method used to treat human phobias - to help your dog overcome separation anxiety. Our program will teach you:

  • How to read dog body language

  • How to train below a dog's threshold - i.e. the point where alone time becomes scary

  • How to create safe absences the dog can comfortably handle

Where does training take place?

All separation anxiety training is done virtually from the comfort of your own home - which means we can help clients anywhere in the U.S.!
